Troy, Mo. - In a battle between two teams who fell one win short of the Class 6 Final Four last season, Troy Buchanan's matchup against Pattonville at the Gateway Athletic Conference Suburban Challenge had a postseason flavor.
The intensity of the contest suggested it might not be the last time the Trojans and Pirates square off against each other. Jack Fessenden's five 3-pointers paced Troy - and his team needed all of them - as it withstood a furious rally and a missed jumper as time expired to escape with a 64-63 win in boys basketball action at Lindenwood University.
Fessenden finished with 22 points for the Trojans, and Mason Ryan added 15. Charlie Nett scored 12 points on four shots from distance, before fouling out with 4:20 remaining in the contest.
Troy Buchanan coach Tim Gilmore took a few moments after the emotional victory to speak with the Lincoln County Journal's Shawn Singleton about the game, and how his squad can benefit from it as it enters conference play.
