The Silex Lady Owls win another District Championship and will host a quarter final game on Oct. 21 at 5 p.m.

The Silex Lady Owls defeated Community 13-4 on Friday after taking the lead late in the game. 

The game was tied at four with Silex batting in the bottom of the fifth when Sarah Weatherford singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Silex earned the victory despite allowing Community to score four runs in the third inning. Community’s big inning was driven by singles by Brooklyn Glasgow and Emily Hoyt and a walk by Olivia Kuda.

The Lady Owls knotted the game up at four in the bottom of the fourth inning. Carson Harlan singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Taylor Howard was the winning pitcher as she surrendered four runs on seven hits over seven innings, striking out seven.

Emma Angel took the loss for Community. Angel allowed 16 hits and 13 runs over six innings, striking out five.

Silex collected 16 hits on the day. Lexi Plackemeier, Weatherford, Howard, Tayah Williams, Tori Mudd, and Harlan all managed multiple hits. Plackemeier led Silex with four hits in five at bats.
