Silex, Mo. - Both teams were strong in the circle Tuesday, Sept. 21, but the Silex Lady Owls was just a little bit better as they defeated Bowling Green 3-2.
Taylor Howard led the Lady Owls to victory in the pitcher’s circle as the lefty surrendered two runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out nine.
Megan Graver took the loss for Bowling Green. The hurler went seven innings, allowing three runs on four hits, striking out 12 and walking zero.
Karlie Ellis, Abagail Mooney, Tori Mudd, and Tayah Williams all had a hit to lead Silex.
Grace Deters led Bowling Green with two hits in four at bats. Bowling Green didn’t commit a single error in the field. Kaelynn Wommack had the most chances in the field with 12.
The Lady Owls took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning after back-to-back singles from Ellis and Williams. Ellis came around to score on a Mooney double. Williams and Mooney then added two more scoring on a Mudd single to take a 3-0 lead.
Howard was able to hold off the Lady Bobcats to secure the 3-2 victory.
The win gave them 10 victories on the season.
