Elsberry, Mo. - Elsberry Lady Indians Mya Pflaster was brilliant on the bump as she recorded a no-hitter and to say that the bottom of the second inning in the Lady Indians 15-0 victory over Wellsville-Middletown was wild would be an understatement.
Following a 1-2-3 first inning for both teams on Sept. 21, the bottom of the second started with a walk, followed by a hit batter, two wild pitches, a walk, another walk, back-to-back errors, a ground out and two fly outs. All of that led to a 6-0 lead for Elsberry and set the tone for the lopsided victory.
The Lady Indians scored three more runs in the third, however, depending on ones point of view it was a little more conventional.
Kelsey Pflasterer hit an inside the park homerun, followed by a Katy Talbot double, a Abby Jenkins triple and a error at third base.
The following inning they added two more runs with doubles from Taylor Mooney and Payton Robinson and a sacrifice from Mya Pflasterer.
The bottom of the fifth was eerily similar to the bottom of the second with back-to-back hit batters, an error, then a double by Talbot and single by Makenzie Gladney. By the time the inning ended Elsberry tallied their 15th run of the game.
Mya Pflasterer was dominant as she went five innings, surrendering no runs, no hits, no walks and striking out 16.
