The Elsberry High School Lady Indians finished last week with a split decision in the two games they hosted.  On Monday they competed against Christian High School, while on Wednesday they battled the Warrenton Warriors.

Against the visiting Eagles, the Lady Indians jumped out to a lead and never looked back as they took a 53-35 victory.

In the first quarter Elsberry netted five buckets to take a 10-6 lead by the end.  The Lady Indians couldn’t be stopped in the second quarter either as they rang up 17 points on the scoreboard and took a commanding 27-14 lead into the locker room.

Elsberry didn’t let up when they hit the hardwood for the third quarter tallying another 16 points.  In the final quarter of the game the visiting Eagle outscored the home team, but it wasn’t enough to make a dent in the score when the final buzzer rang.

All the Lady Indians saw some playing time, with three individuals scoring in double figures.  Leading the way was Kylie Kinsler with 15, followed by Payton Robinson, 12, and Kelsey Pflasterer, 10.

The Lady Indians game against the visiting Warriors was completely opposite of the game they played two nights previous.

Nothing Elsberry did seemed to work, only scoring one basket and one free throw in the first eight minutes of play.  In the second quarter they faced the same issue of not being able to get the ball in the basket, only making one field goal in the second quarter also.  Despite the lack of offense the Lady Indians found themselves down by only six points at halftime.

Despite coming out of the locker room ready to play, the Lady Indians just couldn’t catch a break, scoring 24 points in the final two quarters to the 26 the Warriors put on the board wasn’t enough to put them over the hump.

Looking back, the game might have been a little different if Elsberry could have hit free throws.  The team went 13 of 28 from the charity strip during the 32 minutes.

Tyra Henderson was the only Lady Indian to be in double figures, with 12.

Elsberry is playing this week in the Tip-Off Classic in Winfield.
