Tim Carroll came to the ballpark and meant business on Thursday, driving in four on two hits to lead the Silex Owls past Louisiana 12-2 on Thursday to capture the Class 2 District 10 Championship.
Carroll drove in runs on a single in the first, a single in the second, and a fielder’s choice in the seventh.
Silex grabbed an early lead scoring on a single by Carroll anda single by Wes Perkins in the first inning, a walk by Daniel Havlik, a single by Carroll and a fielder’s choice by Perkins in the second inning.
Louisiana knotted the game up at two in the bottom of the first inning, when Capps homered on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs.
The Owls pulled away for good with four runs in the second inning. In the second Havlik drew a walk, scoring one run, Carroll singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run, Josh Price was hit by a pitch, driving in a run, and Perrine induced Perkins to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
Collin Twellman led things off on the hill for Silex. The righty allowed five hits and two runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking zero.
Perrine started the game for Louisiana. The hurler went four innings, allowing six runs on five hits and striking out four. Langley threw three innings out of the bullpen.
Silex collected ten hits. Price, Blake Thoroughman, Hunter Hubbard and Carroll all collected multiple hits. Price led Silex with three hits in four at bats. Carroll led Silex with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with 11 stolen bases.
Perrine went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Louisiana in hits.
