Elsberry's baseball squad traveled to Ozark with sunny dreams of bringing a Class 3 state championship back to Lincoln County.

Unfortunately for the Indians, the sunny dreams became a rainy mess - and Linn turned it into a nightmare on the way to a 10-0, six-inning run-ruling that ended Elsberry's title hopes.

Trailing 2-0 in the bottom on the first inning, Elsberry had runners on the corners with no outs. However, Joel Mound was thrown out at second on a steal attempt.

Colby Twellman struck out on a bunt attempt on two strikes after fouling off several pitches, in what coach Levi Jacyna later said was a miscommunication in signs.

George Stonebraker later grounded out to end the inning scoreless - and leave Kaden Kinsler on third (who led off the frame with a triple).

Kinsler, Twellman and Stonebraker each posted the three hits Linn's Andrew Hueste allowed in the contest.

Sean Phillips allowed three earned on six hits in 2 2/3 innings for the loss. The freshman fanned three batters, but walked six others.

Elsberry will face Jefferson (Festus) in the consolation game at 11 a.m. Thursday.
