Hi, my name is Savannah Lindsey. This is my first year of 4-H, and I’m doing chickens.

I have 11 chickens, one rooster named Rockey, four Buff Orpingtons, two Rhode Island hens and four light Brahmas.

I’m new to chickens, so we had to start from scratch. We built a four-foot wide, eight-foot long and six-foot high chicken coop. My grandpa helped, so we owe him a lot of eggs.

We also had to buy food, scratch and grit. We also bought food containers.

I’m part of the Moscow Mills Willing Workers Club, and I did the food drive and “Socks and Slippers and Christmas Shoes” and baked for a baked goods drive.

I love 4-H because I get to hang out with my friends, and get to do fun things.

We all know because of COVID-19, we couldn’t have a normal fair, but we still got to show our chickens. My rooster, Rockey, won me grand champion in the barnyard mix, and first place in the rooster-crowning contest with nine crows.

I also had fun giving my chickens baths before the show.
