The Village of Eolia Board of Trustees met at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13, 2020, at the Village of Eolia Community Building.

After approving consent items on the agenda, discussion began concerning the required annual budget talks among the Trustees.  Eolia clerk, Shawnda Zumwalt, reminded the group of the necessity of planning for the upcoming fiscal year.

The typical expenses that the village must attend to each year are, with approval, likely to remain on the budget.  Additional tasks that will be considered as line items might involve specific jobs such as tuckpointing in the section of the building that houses the Village Clerk’s office.  Following heavy rains, the room collects water and presents inconveniences with the clean-up process.

The sewer report involved information about replacing the pump which is located to service the Fast Lane fuel center at 101 W. Outer Road .  The original pump has broken and is no longer repairable.  John Haake, maintenance supervisor, presented several different product ideas, along with costs involved.  Trustees determined the product to be purchased, and all voted unanimous approval.

Work on the manhole at Green and Second Streets continues to progress.  Some of the concrete work has to be corrected before moving forward.

S and R Animal Control has captured several stray cats living around the block of Third and West Elsom Streets.  Once the weather improves, traps will be set in an attempt to catch the remainder of the animals lingering in the location.

With agenda items having been thoroughly addressed, the meeting was adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
