Trina Burnette

Mrs. Trina A. Burnette, 79, of Troy, MO and formerly of Elsberry, MO, passed away on Monday, Nov. 9, 2020 at her residence. She was born on June 25, 1941 in Illinois to William and Marion Thompson. Marion later married Robert Shaw, and together they raised Trina and her sister, Kathy. Robert Shaw was the only father they knew and they loved him dearly. The family eventually settled in St. Louis, where Trina attended and graduated from De Andreis High School. In 1968, while working at the State Bank of Wellston, Trina was playing in a softball league when she met her coach and future soulmate, Bill Burnette. At the age of 27, Trina married the love of her life on November 1, 1968. They both enjoyed dancing and shared their last dance on their 50th wedding anniversary in 2018. Trina loved water-skiing, various collectibles, and was a movie buff. Her family meant everything to her and she made her home a warm, fun, and happy place. Her smile and laughter will be dearly missed by all.    

Surviving are her beloved husband of almost 52 years, Bill Burnette of Troy; her loving children: Cori (Dan) Fitzgerald, Jason Burnette, David (Jessica) Burnette, Tammy Burnette, Mark (Barbara) Burnette; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and one-on-the-way and her brother-in-law, Michael O’Connor; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Kathy O’Connor.

Visitation scheduled from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020 at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1304 Boone St., Troy, MO 63379. Masks and social distancing encouraged.

Funeral service scheduled at 10a.m. on Friday, Nov. 13, 2020 at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral Homes & Crematory, Troy location. Fr. Chuck Tichacek officiated. Masks and social distancing encouraged.

Serving as pallbearers: Mark Burnette, David Burnette, Jason Burnette, Dan Fitzgerald, Danny Fitzgerald and Ryan Fitzgerald. .

Interment to follow in Elsberry City Cemetery, Elsberry.

Memorials may be made to donor’s choice, c/o the funeral home.
