Ronald William Edinger, 77, of Troy, Missouri passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022 at his residence surrounded by loved ones. He was born on November 3, 1944 in Big Springs, Texas to Victor Edinger and Esther Mennemeier-Edinger while his father was in the service. While he was still a baby, the family moved back to Old Monroe, Missouri. Ron attended Immaculate Conception until 8th grade. He then entered the Seminary in Illinois for two years and then came back to Winfield High School for graduation. Then at the age of 18, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, proudly serving four years, with two terms in Vietnam. He met his soulmate, Nell Hemmer before going into the service and married her two years later on March 19, 1966 in Flint Hill, Missouri. To this union were born six children: Karla, Kimberly, Trisha, Eric, Gregory, and Maria. The family lived in O’Fallon, Missouri for five years and then later moved to a farm in Troy, Missouri. Ron was a good provider for his family and worked as a union electrician doing commercial construction while running a farm at home. He was a member of the IBEW, Local 1. The Edinger family were members of Sacred Heart Church in Troy and Ron was passionate about bringing many people to faith through RCIA and Cursillo.
Ron is survived by his devoted wife, Nell Edinger of Troy, his children: Karla (Bryan) Thomas, Kimberly (Steve) North, Trisha (Rick) Moreland, Eric (Sarah) Edinger, Gregory (Kelly) Edinger, Maria Edinger; 15 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren with one on the way. He is further survived by his three brothers: Robert Edinger, Thomas (Becky) Edinger, Michael Edinger; and many relatives and friends.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents Victor Edinger and Esther Mennemeier-Edinger, his grandson, Kadin Woolfolk, his sisters-in-law Laverne Moorman and Jean Edinger, and his brother-in-law Ronald Moorman.
Visitation was held on Sunday, May 1, 2022, 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1304 Boone Street, Troy, MO, 63379, 636-528-8244.
A funeral mass was held on Monday, May 2, 2022, 10:00 a.m., at the Sacred Heart Church, Troy, MO. Father Mike Lydon and Fr. Donald Schramm officiated. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society or Food for the Poor, c/o McCoy-Blossom Funeral Homes & Crematory, Troy location. Interment followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Troy, MO.
