Rita Chapman

Rita June Chapman, 89, of Elsberry, MO, passed away Friday, July 29, 2022. She was born to Lester and Adeline (Plassmann) Grein, on August 24, 1932, in St. Louis, Missouri. She was married to the late Robert “Bob” Chapman on July 2, 1956, and dedicated her life to being a loving wife and mother. She is survived by her 4 children: Robert “Bob” (Lynn) Chapman, Mary (Howard) Milwerger, James “Jim” (Rhonda) Chapman, and Rita “Eileen” (Todd) Kalschultz. She was the loving grandmother of 9, great grandmother of 11, great step grandmother of 3, and is further survived by her sister Linda Lesko. Rita is preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband, and her siblings; Pat Finke, Shirley Weigers, and Michael Grein. She leaves behind her very loyal companion and dog, Pepper. Rita Chapman was an avid reader of mystery and horror, and shared her enthusiasm for the genre with members of her family. As a full time mother, Rita was immensely proud of her family, and leaves behind beautiful memories. As her health declined, she was known for her positivity with family and caretakers. She charmed staff at the Elsberry Health Care Center with catch phrases such as, “Golly Moses,” “Howdy, Howdy,” and “Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy.” Family fully expects her to greet loved ones who preceded her in death with a “Where’s everybody at?”

Services will be private per her request.
