Delbert Leon Clark, Jr., 84, of St. Charles, MO formerly of Louisiana, MO, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Peters, MO. Memorial services will be held on Monday, May 22nd at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, MO. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M.
Junior was born on March 5, 1939 in Pleasant Hill, IL to Delbert L. Ralston and Mildred Martin Ralston. He was later adopted by Lonnie Clark.
He graduated Louisiana High School with the Class of 1957. He had received All District recognition in football and held the school record in the half-mile run.
He was a veteran of the US Army serving from 1956 to 1964. He began his employment with Missouri Edison Co, in 1962 as an electric lineman. He later held positions in engineering, marketing, and customer service. He retired in 1997 from Ameren Missouri as a Customer Service Advisor after 35 years of service.
Junior also spent 30 years in public office serving on the Louisiana City Council, Louisiana School Board, and as Mayor of Louisiana. In 1997 he was appointed to Pike County Eastern Commissioner by Governor Mel Carnahan due to the death of Eastern Commissioner Gene Miller. He was re-elected twice to this office before retiring in 2004. He was a lifetime member of the Louisiana ELKS Lodge 791, the Louisiana Boat Club, American Legion Post #370, and the First Presbyterian Church in Louisiana.
He is survived by his wife Carol Clark, a son, Brad Clark (Lori) of O’Fallon, MO, a daughter, Janice Tims (Jay) of Fort Worth, TX, Carol’s son, Tommy Bell (Julie) of Wentzville, MO, Carol’s daughter, Susan Jacober (Todd) of Heartsburg, MO, his grandchildren, Bailey Tims, Caden Tims, Brantley Clark, Allie Farrell (Sean), Madison Clark, Nathan Jacober (Amanda), Elaina Bell, Isaac Jacober, Jack Bell, and Macie Bell, and 2 great grandchildren, Rhett Tims, and Vivienne Tims.
He was preceded in death by a stillborn daughter Janet Lee Clark, his first wife, and mother of Brad and Janice, Phyllis Sue Clark in 2000, his father Delbert Ralston, step-father Lonnie Clark, mother Mildred Root, and a brother Larry Clark.
