Joyce Hardesty

On September 17, 2021, 86 year old Joyce Rosetta Hardesty (nee Gotsch) of Eolia, MO., took her final breath at home surrounded by her loved ones.

Funeral services will be at 12 p.m., Friday, September 24, 2021, at Myers Funeral Home in Middletown with Pastor Greg Wyble officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery in Middletown.

Joyce was born on July 31, 1935, to Irwin and Grace Corine Gotsch (nee Niel), in St. Louis, MO. Joyce graduated from Wellsville, MO High School in 1953. She married Howard Wayne Hardesty on May 2, 1954.

Joyce enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved playing penny slots at the casino, playing Yahtzee and crafting.

She is survived by her daughters, Shelly Myers (Larry) of Protem, MO., Marian Kuntz (Eddie) of Eolia, MO., sisters, Jeanine West (Roland) of Odessa, MO., Karen Reese of Jonesburg, MO., brother, Tom Gotsch of Odessa, MO., six grandchildren, Aaron Kuntz (Christy), Eolia, MO., Jamie Gollaher (Grant), Frankford, MO., Tabitha Myers, Owensville, MO., Tracy Niccum (Jason), Washington, MO., Candace Kluba (Luke), Washington, MO., and Nicole Brack (Adam), Olathe, KS.

Eight great-grandchildren, Scott Kuntz, Kaitlyn Kuntz, Tyler Kuntz, Rileigh Kuntz, Liam Kluba, Allison Niccum, Addison Niccum and Carly Gollaher and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joyce was preceeded in death by her son, Scott Hardesty, one sister Marian Gotsch, one brother, Irwin Gotsch, Sr., her parents, Irwin and Grace Gotsch and one great-granddaughter, Lee Kluba

Joyce was a hard worker all her life. She worked at various clerical jobs, as a chicken fryer at Troy IGA, and Rosie’s Market in Eolia, MO., and finally retiring after 13 years with Michael’s Craft Store in St. Charles, MO.

Joyce will be deeply missed by her loved ones and many friends.
