John David Headrick Jr., 74 , of Silex, MO, passed away at 12:58 a.m., on Monday, August 26, 2019 at Barnes Hospital-St. Louis. He was born on July 9,1945 in Nevada, MO, to John “David” and Margaret “Lucille” Headrick Sr. John attended the local schools and went on to attend St. Louis Christian College. He graduated 1965 at Fort Zumwalt H.S., and later married his high school sweetheart, Marsha (Hill) on August 21, 1965 in O’Fallon, MO. They were blessed with four children; Laura Lee, Suzanne Marie, Heather Renee, and John “Eric”.
John was employed at Camp Avery through the Missouri Division of Youth Services. He worked there for more than 35 years and was a great mentor to many young men. John provided guidance and structure to many other young people. His commitment to Christ Jesus was of utmost importance and he felt a responsibility to share Christ with others.He was heavily involved in leadership at Moscow Mills Christian Church in MO. As was his father. He later helped found the Harvester Christian Church of Troy, MO, and was active with the youth ministry. John was a farmer at heart and was recognizable because he always wore overalls.
He is survived by his beloved wife: Marsha Headrick of Silex, four children; Laura Lee and Salvatore Montalbano of Silex, Suzanne Marie and Michael Whitaker of Troy, Heather Renee and Ryan Wehmeyer of Owensville, John “Eric” and Kara Headrick of Moscow Mills, grandchildren: Alyssa, Laura Ann, Little Sal, Tiffany, Tommy, Michael II, Johnathan, Mataya, Reece, Riley, Reagan, Ryder, Rex, Jack, Laney, Dane, and 9 great-granchildren.
John was preceded in death by his infant sister: Patricia Sue Headrick and his parents.
He will be deeply missed and long remembered by all those who knew and loved him.
Visitation was held Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019 from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. at McCoy-Blossom Funeral Homes & Crematory 1304 Boone Street Troy, MO.
Funeral was held Friday, Sept. 6, 2019, 2019 at 11 a.m. Harvester Christian Church - Troy Pastor Gus Vega officiated.
Interment - Sulphur Lick Cemetery Troy, MO.
