Gerald “Jerry” Ide

Gerald “Jerry” Stanley Ide, at age 77, in his home surrounded by his loving family, went home to be with the Lord on December 31, 2020.

Born to James Roger Ide, Sr. and Thelma Grace Worth, Jerry grew up in St. Louis, MO, residing in Winfield, MO for 28 years and was a resident of Gulfport, MS for the past six years.

Jerry spent nearly 40 years with the love of his life, Victoria. Jerry had six children: Andee Evers (Shane Cummings), Elizabeth Bourgeret (Robert Taylor), Scott Ide (Audrey Ide), Jeremy “Blake” Ide (Kimberly Ide), Edwin Wittneber III, and Angie Hutton (Scott Hutton). At the time of his death, Jerry was blessed with fourteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Jerry is also survived by his brothers, Melvin, Charlie, Daniel, and Roy Ide. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Naida Boyd, and his brothers, Jack and Pete Ide.

Jerry worked for McDonnell Douglas/Boeing Aerospace from 1968-1999 and has been a member of the Machinist Union since 1968, eventually serving on the PAC committee and as Vice President of the 837B chapter of the union. After retiring from Boeing Aerospace, Jerry spent 10 years making the community smile as a “people greeter” at the local Walmart in Troy, MO. Jerry spent many years as a sign language interpreter and teacher. There was nothing that made Jerry happier than teaching sign language and craft classes to the children at Asbury’s Summer Bible Camp.

Jerry enjoyed spending the later years of his life tinkering in his garage, strumming on his favorite guitar, acquiring unique items at estate sales, baking bread and other sweet treats for family and neighbors and relaxing on his back porch with his beloved dogs.

A memorial service will be held for family and friends at Asbury United Methodist Church in Foley, MO in the Spring of 2021.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations for student scholarships to: Asbury UMC Bible Camp, 2704 State Hwy W, Foley, MO 63347; Phone: (636) 668-8015.
