David Adlai Thompson, 93, of New Hartford, passed away March 31, 2020 at Maple Grove Lodge in Louisiana.

Private services for David are under the direction of Bibb-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green.

David was born on April 24, 1926 in Hawk Point, Missouri, the son of Ernest Adlai and Ruby E. Eversmeyer Thompson. He was joined in marriage to Ina Jewell Fletcher on February 27, 1946 in the Troy Presbyterian Church. She preceded him in death on June 26, 2012.

David grew up in the Hawk Point and Silex areas, attending Silex High School. After graduation, he joined the Army, spending time in Japan, returning after his first daughter was born. Upon returning from the service, David bought the family farm and lived there the rest of his life. He was on the Board of Directors at Silex Banking Company for 37 years. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge for 73 years and was also a member of Scottish Rites. He enjoyed spending his time farming and with his faithful companion of 15 years, Boots. David was a member of New Liberty Methodist Church and attended Silex Presbyterian Church.

David is survived by daughters Louise Davidson of Silex and Barbara Tobaben (David) of Beverly Hills, MI,  sister, Alice Mudd (Mike) of Chillicothe, OH; grandchildren: Christi Nagl (Tom) of St. Louis, Jennifer Capstick (Steve) of New Hartford, Matthew Davidson (Angie) of Olney, Jonathan Truitt of New Hartford, Heather Mosley (Clay) of St. Louis, Caleb Collins (Sara) of Vandalia, Amanda Marentis (Jeff) of Berkley, MI, and Nathan Tobaben (Meredith) of Middleville, MI. Also, great-grandchildren: Rebecca, Bryan and Rachel Lipsey, Jakob and Abbigail Nagl, Cole and Brock Davidson, Coyle and Bella Mosley, Claire, Emily and Madelyn Marentis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter Linda Lee Thompson; siblings: J.W. Thompson, Donald E. Thompson, Mary Roberson and Jacklyn Hay; and son-in-law Gary Davidson. 

Memorials may be made to New Liberty Cemetery, in care of Bibb-Veach Funeral Home.
