Bessie “Betsy” Blackwell, 86, of St. Louis, MO, (formerly of Eolia, MO) passed away on March 24, 2021. She was born on November 21, 1934 in St. Louis City to Denny and Mary Nancy (Graham) Jester. She attended schools in St. Louis and Eolia along with her three siblings. Bessie and Milford Blackwell were united in marriage on November 29, 1952 in Pocahontas, Arkansas. To this marriage were born five children: Brenda, Gail, Neil, Tammie and Benjamin. Betsy was employed in various garment factories in Pike and Lincoln counties, sharpening her excellent seamstress talents and later was a private duty housekeeper. She loved to read, travel, bake and garden. Her best days were spent visiting with her family and always preparing delicious meals. She will be sadly missed and long remembered by all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving children: Brenda Runkles of St. Louis, Gail and husband John Robinson of Eldon, Neil Blackwell of Dallas, Texas, Tammie Joyce of Wentzville, Benjamin Blackwell of St. Louis; grandchildren: Matthew Simpson, John Robinson II, Denny Robinson, Abigail Smith and Kathryn West; great-grandchildren: Tyler Simpson, Magnolia Smith, Kyle Simpson, Camellia Smith, Shelbie West, and Miles Robinson, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and numerous friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband; and siblings, Patsy Daffron, Vickie Fenner and Herman Jester.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
