For the last 117 years the entrance to Elsberry on Highway 79 from the south has been donned with the railroad bridge over Lost Creek.
The road bridge at the same location was replaced by MODOT in 2013. Ames Constriction has contracted with BNSF Railroad to replace the deteriorating bridge that was constructed in 1902. According to project engineer for Ames, Mike Pamperin, the total project will be completed in late August.
He also added, “Access to Hatfield Road will be closed on July 10 as we roll in the new bridge.”
