Officer-involved shooting in Foley

Law enforcement officials from various departments descend upon residence at the 40 block of Regent Court in Foley, the scene of a violent domestic disturbance which resulted in a woman being shot and the suspect being shot by a Lincoln County Sheriff's deputy on Friday. The incident is under investigation.

Foley, Mo. – A domestic disturbance turned violent on Thursday, leading to a encounter between Lincoln County Sheriff Department deputies and a local man, ending with two people being taken to area hospitals.

At approximately 10:15 a.m., deputies were dispatched to emergency 911 call at the 40 block of Regent Court in Foley involving a woman and her son, according to a statement by the Sheriff’s Office.

When the deputies arrived, they found the pair arguing outside the residence – and in front of the deputies, the 32-year-old suspect, who is as of yet unidentified pending charges, opened fire on the woman, hitting her once.

One LCSO deputy then drew his weapon and opened fire on the suspect, striking him once. The suspect’s weapon was recovered at the scene.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for her injuries, while the suspect was taken to a St. Louis-area hospital. The extent of their injuries, or their current status, is unknown at this time.

There were three LCSO deputies on scene when the shooting occurred. As required by department protocol, the deputy who shot the suspect has been placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

Lincoln County Sheriff Rick Harrell requested the assistance of the Missouri State Highway Patrol to investigate the shooting, and it has assumed the investigation. 

In addition to the LCSO and MSHP, the Winfield Police Department, Elsberry Police Department, Troy Police Department and Missouri State Park Rangers were also at the scene.
