Around 7 p.m. on Monday, May 27, Missouri State Troopers received a phone call from Lincoln County Authorities about a possible boat crash on the Cuivre River near Old Monroe.
A second call followed shortly after the first, confirming the incident and informing the troopers of a possible missing person.
The incident was a collision between two boats, which State Trooper Dallas Thompson believes sent one individual overboard.
The individual in question is a 20-year-old male. The man hadn’t been located Tuesday morning, however, that afternoon, a body was reportedly recovered from the river, though the identity was not released. One of the boat drivers, 24-year-old William Nordmann Jr., was arrested for boating while intoxicated. Thompson had stated that state troopers had a marine division on the water and were in the process of sending divers to the scene.
“We just put our boats in the water and we will be using high tech sonar and some other devices to try to see if we can find anything,” Thompson said around 10:45 a.m. Tuesday morning. Check back here updates.
