A local woman was killed when her SUV crashed and caught on fire along Interstate 64 in St. Charles County early Thursday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2004 Ford Expedition went from the left lane and crossed over two lanes and then off the right side of the road near Prospect Road in Lake St Louis.

The vehicle then hit a concrete block, rolled over and caught on fire. Traffic cameras from MoDOT showed large flames coming out of the vehicle, which came to a stop in a grassy median between the interstate and outer road.

MSHP later identified the victim as Katrina Tutor, 37, of Troy. No other vehicles were involved and no one else was injured. No other details about the circumstances of the crash were released, and under MHSP policy, the crash remains under investigation.

All eastbound lanes were blocked on I-64 for nearly two hours while emergency crews investigated and got the scene under control before the highway was reopen around 10 a.m.
