As of last week Elsberry residents are again hearing the train hornsas normal activity has resumed on the tracks located on the east side of town. According to Mike Pamprin, project engineer for Ames Construction, the new railroad bridge over Lost Creek has been completed eight days ahead of schedule. Despite having the crossway that was built to assist with the construction being washed away after torrential rains several times, workers still persevered on the job.
Although the bridge itself is completed there is still work to be done. Workers will be disassembling the old bridge piece by piece and will finish cleaning up the area. Pamprin estimates they will be completely out of the area by mid August.
Ames Construction will remain in the Old Monroe area to complete a bridge that has been delayed due to the flooding.
