About 40 parents and their children arrived at 10:00 on Saturday, April 3, to take part in the fun provided by the folks at Silex Community News, Knight Owls Cafe, and numerous anonymous donors.
When the Easter Bunny yelled “Go!” the kids were off and running to their selected targets -- 1,000 plastic eggs filled with goodies. The egg hunters completed their searches swiftly, and by 10:15 all treasures had been claimed.
In addition, each child received a goodie bag loaded with candies and chocolate rabbits. The Knights Owl Cafe donated gift cards that the youngsters and families could trade in for delicious treats at the Main Street diner.
Said Mayor Chuck Turbyeville, “The city is happy to encourage any event for the kids and families in our community.” Last year’s CoVid scare contributed to eliminating the Easter Egg Hunt in spring 2020. The community hopes to return to offering the event annually for their youngsters once again in the years ahead.
