What was originally a routine well-being check by the Missouri Senior and Disability Services turned out to be a very scary situation last Thursday afternoon.
While performing the check on a residence in Hillcrest Subdivison, Lincoln County Deputies assisting the Missouri Senior and Disability Services located a syringe which prompted a call to the Lincoln County Narcotis Unit.
While in the home, investigators with the unit found what was described as a pipe bomb.
The discovery led to a chain of events that included a call to the St. Charles County Bomb Squad and the Elsberry Fire Protection District.
According to Lincoln County Sheriff Lt. Andy Binder, the bomb was removed and safely detonated. He also stated that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) assisted the Sheriff’s Office with the matter.
As of press time no charges had been filed and the investigation is ongoing.
