Lincoln County Prosecutor Mike Wood held a “Pinwheels for Prevention” event on April 24 aimed at raising awareness on the issue of child abuse. A press release from the prosecutor’s office said last year, 138 children in Lincoln County were interviewed for abuse, neglect or violence.

“In 2008, Prevent Child Abuse America kickstarted a national campaign focused on ensuring that all children have safe, stable and nurturing families,” the release stated. “Pinwheels are used as the national symbol of child abuse prevention because they’re a happy, uplifting symbol of childhood.”
