Pinwheels for Prevention brings awareness to child abuse

On April 15, the Lincoln County Prosecutor’s Office hosted a “Pinwheels for Prevention” ceremony at the Lincoln County Justice Center in Troy to honor and bring awareness to the issue of child abuse. Members of the Prosecutor’s Office, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, the Child Center in Troy, the Lincoln County Resource Board, the Troy Area Chamber of Commerce and other community residents were in attendance.

Two hundred and eleven children were interviewed in Lincoln County for abuse, neglect or violence in 2020, more than twice the number than in 2019. More children being at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic was a possible factor in the rise in new cases.
