With the recent news of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases in the county, school districts must continue to be flexible and make decisions that are in the best interest of public health.

Following the guidance of the Lincoln County Health Department, area superintendents decided to extend the closure of county public schools (Elsberry, Lincoln County R-III, Silex, and Winfield) through Friday, May 1, according to a press release from the Lincoln County R-III School District.

This extended closure impacts all extra- and co-curricular activities, including athletics, clubs and organizations and facility usage.

During this uncertain time, these districts will continue to keep the safety and well-being of our students, employees, and communities our top priority. Each district understands that an extended closure creates a wide-reaching impact, and is dedicated to providing ongoing learning and engagement opportunities as well as essential services for students and their families.

This continues to be an ever-evolving situation. Therefore, updates will be communicated as available. Each district will communicate specific details pertaining to their families through their regular channels.

Please continue to follow the guidance provided by the Lincoln County Health Department, Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regarding COVID-19 prevention.
