Elsberry man charged with domestic assault

On Oct. 27, Lincoln County prosecutors charged a local man after an incident six weeks earlier.

At around 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 12, a Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to Page Branch Park for a report of a domestic assault in progress. When the deputy arrived at the scene, a witness described a white male choking a female.

The witness told the man, later identified as Daniel Bollinger, 40, of Elsberry, to stop. According to the probable cause statement, and the witness, Bollinger then turned his attention to the witness. The witness then grabbed a tire iron for protection, causing Bollinger to retreat.

After a short search, the deputy located Bollinger, who said he had gotten into an argument over his tooth pain. Bollinger was detained while the deputy went to look for the victim.

The victim was found a short time later just inside the park. She confirmed the argument, which began at Bollinger’s residence. She said when she got up to leave, Bollinger pushed her, then followed her to the park.

The victim denied being choked by Bollinger, as the witness stated, though there was blood on her shirt.

Bollinger has been charged with third-degree domestic assault.
