Recently, one Elsberry man took his 40 plus years of knowledge about carpentry and ventured out to open his own business.

Dean Kinsler has opened Kinsler and Son Construction, with his 22 year old son, Alex.  Together the two have hit the ground running with jobs and actually have jobs booked three months out.

The business is licensed, bonded and insured.

Kinsler boasts that his skills were learned at a very young age from his Dad, and Uncle Quincy.  While he has worked for various companies along the way, who better to work for than yourself.  He also prides himself on the fact that he is getting to teach his son the tools of the trade along the way.

The two men can handle just about any job, including but not limited to, pole barns, windows, doors, decks, siding, painting and remodeling of kitchens and bathrooms.  While many of the jobs are being done local, some jobs have taken them to the St. Louis area.  Sometimes one doesn’t realize how much time projects actually take, by time Kinsler bids a job, gathers supplies, and does the job, time adds up.

“I have enjoyed getting to know more people in the area who need work done and businesses that work with my company,” said Kinsler.

Kinsler added that his business with Old Monroe Lumber Company has been over the top.

“They really go out of their way to help their customers,” he added.

Of course, all this wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for the behind the scenes work by other members of the family.

Wife, Katrina, takes care of appointments, keeping up the calendar and most importantly, billing.  Daughter, Madysen, handles the marketing on Facebook for the company.
