Lincoln County, Mo. - The Lincoln County Republican Central Committee is pleased to announce that Gov. Mike Parson has appointed Daniel A. Heavin as Coroner for Lincoln County.
The LCRCC met at the Lincoln County Courthouse on Aug. 11, and interviewed six candidates, all hoping to fill the vacancy left by Ryan Parker.
Parker’s resignation was effective Aug. 15, because Parker is moving out of state.
LCRCC Chairman Matt Lindsay said that the Committee overwhelmingly nominated Heavin to Gov. Parson to fill the vacancy. Heavin brings to the position a wealth of knowledge and experience ranging from firefighter/paramedic to death investigation with the St. Louis Medical Examiner’s office. Heavin is a certified medicolegal death investigator.
During a vacancy such as this, the county commission has the opportunity to appoint in the interim to fill the position until the governor makes his official choice. Heavin was appointed by the Lincoln County Commissioners as interim coroner on Aug. 16. Heavin has already made strides in bringing the backlog of the office up to date.
Heavin’s appointment runs through to the next coroner’s election in 2024.
The LCRCC wishes Heavin well in his new position.
