Mercy Hospital Lincoln hosted a Health Exploration Camp from July 22 to July 23, giving middle schoolers a chance to explore careers and daily tasks related to hospitals. Monday morning, kids participated in a mock accident set up by local first responders. Later in the afternoon, they got to perform heart surgery on pig hearts. On Tuesday, they got to practice their stitching skills on pig feet, while also preparing nutritious meals and learning about their different blood types. During lunch times for both days, different health professionals came in to talk about the careers that the kids couldn’t get hands-on experience with it. The camp was full of opportunities to learn more about the less recognizable career paths in the health world.
