Hawk Point, Mo. - Hawk Point held its annual Memorial Day celebration in honor of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
“Good afternoon everyone welcome to Hawk Point Post 7560 to our annual Memorial Day service,” Commander Tim Hamelton started his speech.
“Every last Monday of May we gather to pay respects to our fallen comrades, friends, family members, so without adieu we will proceed.”
The flag was lowered to half mass and saluted.
“The 30th of May 1868 is designated to strew with flowers or otherwise decorating the graves with comrades who died during the defense of their country during the late rebellion,” Commander Hamelton said.
The ceremony was ended by the firing guard letting off three rounds of blanks and taps was played. After the celebration a luncheon was available.
