County music legends The Oak Ridge Boys and Tracy Byrd closed out a successful 2022 Lincoln County Fair on Saturday, July 16. Pictured above is them on a tour bus before they took the stage.

Welcome to the Lincoln County Fair.
Thousands of people filed in and out of the Lincoln County Fairgrounds in Troy during the week to witness the various shows and attractions the fair had to offer, and Lincoln County Fair Board Chairman Tyler Neel liked what he saw overall.
“The fair went well. Mother Nature was with us all week,” he said. “Overall, we didn’t have any major incidents or accidents. It was wonderful.”
Throughout the week, fairgoers were treated to variety of live entertainment, capped by Tracy Byrd and the legendary Oak Ridge Boys on the main stage on the final night on July 16.
“We had a good lineup,” Neel said. “The carnival came in well this year. The local bands put on a great show to spice up (the fair) a little as well at the Beergarden.”
Neel also said the weather held up during the fair for the concerts, though rain threatened the area for the finale.
“It wasn’t too hot. It wasn’t too cold for most of the week,” he said. “It was perfect.”
The children of the area were well represented at the Lincoln County Fair, with the final day dedicated to events strictly for them. Frog and turtle races, a watermelon-eating contest and the always-popular “greased-pig” chase were things Neel said brought back nostalgia.
“We always try to do things for the kids here. That’s what this fair is all about,” Neel said. “It was like this when I was eight years old, and this is what we want to try to leave it to for the younger kids now.
“There was a tremendous outpouring of support for the watermelon-eating contest and the ‘greased-pig’ contest.”
Inside the open-air arena of the fairgrounds, vendors from across the area and beyond sold items shaded away from the heat that baked Lincoln County on the final day of the fair.
Fairgoers also packed the stands to see another yearly tradition: collisions. The Figure-8 Scrambler and the Demolition Derby returned to the Lincoln County Fair for another year, as cars attempted to dominate each other for cash prizes.
Fans of the rodeo were also not disappointed in 2022, as the rain that left the field a mud pit for last year’s event stayed away, leaving near-perfect conditions.
