Winfield HS, May 9, 4:30 p.m.-
On Monday, Winfield hosted the Collegiate School of Med-Bio Science in non-conference play. Winfield controlled most of the play in the first half, scoring two goals and doing a solid defensive job of limiting goal-scoring opportunities.
Winfield held a 2-0 lead at half. The unseasonable warmth must have gotten to the Warriors, though, as CSMBS scored two late goals, in the 68th and 70th minutes, leading to a 2-2 tie that would carry until the end of regulation. Winfield got the job done, though, toward the end of the first overtime, burying a well-placed corner with a beautiful volley.
Winfield won by the final score of 3-2.
Winfield's goals were scored by:
Junior Jessi Rudar, who scored 2 goals (her 8th and 9th goals of the season), including her 3rd game-winning goal of the season.
Sophomore Renzlee Davidson, who scored her 3rd goal of the season.
Winfield players earning assists included:
Freshman Bailey Wisniewski, who had 2 assists (her 2nd and 3rd assists of the season)
Junior Jessi Rudar, who had her 4th assist of the season.
Sophomore Abby Brown played the first 14 minutes as Winfield's goalkeeper, and did not have to make any saves (allowing zero goals).
Freshman Nyia Sullivan replaced Brown, played the remaining 74 minutes as Winfield's goalkeeper, making 11 saves in the effort (and allowing both goals).
The win improves Winfield's overall season record to 6-11. Winfield plays next when they host Fatima in non-conference play in the final home game of Winfield's schedule.
