Troy, Mo. - When I originally sat down to write this, I had three, third-person sentences. My name, education, where I am from and a bonus “fun” sentence where I mentioned my hobbies. Admittedly, it wasn’t an overly friendly or approachable way to introduce myself to you all.
See, writing about myself is a bit out of my comfort zone, so you will have to bear with me here. My name is Peyton Sweeney, and I am The Lincoln County Journal’s newest addition to the Newsroom.
I am trying to be more personable, but my background in writing is technical. Writing about the geopolitical impacts of World War 1 or presenting briefings on the various factors and consequences of involvement in the South China Sea can be done without hesitation, but sitting down and writing about myself is borderline nerve-wracking.
I am from Saint Louis originally. When I’m not at work I enjoy going to the gym and reading. (If you have any book recommendations I am always looking to add to my collection.)
Lindenwood University is my alma mater, where I was privileged to learn from some of the most respected academics in their fields.
It was during that time I truly learned how significant and crucial of a role the press and media play in our society. The public deserves informative and accurate news and it is not a job I plan on taking lightly.
So, with that being said, I look forward to getting to know Lincoln County as a community and you all as individuals.
