Troy, Mo. - For families with kids who need extra support, summer break can be daunting. Finding fun activities and opportunities to socialize can be even more difficult. Luckily, Sam Brooks’ family found a place he can do just that at Camp Barnabas. This camp is located in Purdy, and offers an amazing camping experience for individuals with disabilities.

However, these camping experiences can be costly. Sam’s family, along with their Case Manager from Community Opportunities made a request of the Troy Kiwanis Club to help fund the summer camp.  Thanks to the generosity of the Troy Kiwanis Club, Sam and an additional camper from our local community are getting to experience all of these amazing activities this summer.

Not only will Sam get the opportunity to participate in activities such as fishing, paintball, swimming, archery and nightly parties, he will also have one-on-one support to ensure his health and safety.

Sam’s family and support teams are grateful to live in a community where organizations, like the Kiwanis Club, are active and so supportive of local families.
