Not many things can stand the test of time in the world as it is known today, not championships in sports nor the levees that hold back the mighty Mississippi, but God’s walls do.
On Saturday, June 29, Smith Chapel United Methodist Church on Highway CC, a small rural church in the Elsberry area will celebrate 150 years in existence.
Everyone is invited, young and old alike, to share stories of this church’s ministry over the 150 years. Activities scheduled for the afternoon event from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., are a quilt show, outdoor yard games, performances by local choirs and musicians and a free basket dinner.
According to Abby Hall, Lay Minister for the church, a lot of hard work and time is going into this glorious event.
“We are looking for quilts made by past members to put in our quilt show and any photos to put on display from over the years people have to document our rich history of past members and time enjoyed along the way.”
Anyone with any questions or items to put on display can contact Hall at 573-898-2215 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
