Everyone has a special place in their hearts for something or someone and for Flashback Tattoos of Troy, owner, Linda Rippe, it is Youth in Need of Lincoln County.
Rippe has teamed up with Jan and Reine Knobbe, owners of Chariots of Fire Customs, LLC of Troy for the last seven years to host the “Christmas in July” ride. This annual ride raises funds from entry fees, raffles and donations with the best part being that all money raised stays right here in Lincoln County.
“I realize there are many organizations that need help financially, but many of these riders are from Lincoln County and I believe the funds should stay here locally,” said Rippe.
It was kickstands up for approximately 120 motorcycles at 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, leaving from Chariots of Fire, LLC location on Highway 61 with a police escort of two motorcycle officers from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department.
Almost 160 people in all headed for the Elsberry V.F.W. Post #9064 where waiting for them was a BBQ meal provided free of charge by the members of the post and the Ladies Auxiliary.
Also on hand providing music for the afternoon was Bill Shaffer.
“This ride would not be so successful if it wasn’t for the support of Elsberry Post #9064 and the Auxiliary. We appreciate them so much,” said Rippe.
According to Post Commander, Dave Robbins, “with so many veterans giving of their time to ride in this fundraiser we loved having the opportunity to give back to them.”
Final figures are not available yet, but Rippe believes that if history repeats itself totals will exceed last years.
“We started small and the ride has increased every year since with riders and finances.”
