Junior Kylie Lucas of Eolia (front), Brooklyn Kaiman, freshman FFA member (center), and junior Macy Weitkamp also of Eolia (third in line) pack to-go meals for hungry FFA barbeque customers.

With long lines of patrons forming as school dismissed on Friday, Sept. 18, Eolia students, along with their fellow FFA members, hosted their traditional annual FFA barbeque fundraiser.

By the end of the evening, no less than 520 meals had been boxed and sold to hungry diners.

Prior to the event, students, parents, and other supporters invested hundreds of hours in preparatory work.  An efficient system that assured generous portions of hot food and cheery smiles made for a well-oiled machinery of food service on the evening of the dinner.

Each ticket provided a super-sized carry-out meal of steak, potatoes, and more, as an assembly line of Clopton FFA members and supporters packaged and delivered the tasty eats.

When the school year returns to its normal routine, funds raised at the barbecue will serve to sponsor FFA members’ attendance at events such as the national and state conventions, fees during contest season, and travel expenses to trapshooting competitions.

At the close of the evening, FFA sponsor Kaylee Calvin happily remarked,  “This is our first big fundraiser with me in the role of  Clopton FFA advisor.  I cannot say enough great things about community support.”
