Elsberry FFA continues tradtion of collecting for Salvation Army

The red kettle and the ringing of the bell is a familiar site during the holiday, this year is no different, but probably needed more than ever before.  Elsberry FFA members are volunteering their time to man the Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign on weekends at  Elsberry IGA, thanks to owners Elias and Wafa Tawil.  Other Red Kettle Campaigns are also located at Walmart and Kroger in Troy, and County Market in Winfield.

“The Salvation Army has a history of service to this community and communities around the country.  The chapter just wants to have an opportunity to help support the organization and us ringing the bell help us do that,” said Sarah Ray, Chapter Advisor.

The Salvation Army began in 1865 and has continued since then to fulfill its mission of meeting  human needs.  This year probably more than ever there will be a lot of people who need a little help at not only Christmas and end of the  year expenses, but monthly as well.

The Lincoln County Salvation Army Service Extension is located in Troy and handles the needs of the county residents.  More information can be found on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/SALincolnCountyM
