The traditional drive-around on the last day of school for seniors featured some traditional, and non-traditional vehicles.

ELSBERRY - The Class of 2023 at Elsberry High School finished off their week-long celebration with commencement exercises on Sunday afternoon in the Clark Cox Gymnasium.
Fifty-seven young men and women received their diplomas from the Elsberry School Board. The senior address was given by class members Mia Spurlock and Alyssa Love. Tori Towery, School Counselor then presented the top 10 members of the class to the audience: Kaden Kinsler, Valedictorian; Addyston Steele, Salutatorian; Olivia Kinsler, third; Lillie Jones, fourth; Emily Moellman. fifth; Emily Moyer, sixth; Makezie Gladney, seventh; Carli Donovan, eighth; Mia Spurlock, ninth; and Madilyn Shrum, tenth.
The outstanding senior award chosen by the faculty at EHS was then presented to Lillie Jones by Michael Boedeker, principal.
Graduates were Stanley Bazan, Lexie Black, Alex Cassels, Gage Conner, Paige Crapser, Dashaun Dodson, Carli Donovan, Candice Dowell, Randy Freeborn, Destyni Gabel, Makenzie Gladney, Dakota Gramann, Serenity Gronemeyer, Lena Hagemeier, Bobby Hannekan, MaKenna Hargett, Peyton Harris, Jacob Heitman, Bryce Irving, Cooper Jones, Lillie Jones, Destiny Kilian, Ethan King, Kaden Kinsler, Olivia Kinsler, Jorgen Kreuger, James Kurfman, Mason Land, Alyssa Love, Samara Manuel, Gavin Marshall, Makenna Mills, Emily Moellman, Taylor Mooney, Emily Moyer, Zac Potter, Gavin Reller, Jersey Riffle, Christian Rios, Henry Rockwell, Nellia Rose, Riley Schroeder, Fernanda Servin-Avila, John Shanahan, Mason Shipley, Madilyn Shrum, Mia Spurlock, Addyson Steele, Serene Tuck, Kyle Turnbull, Andres Valencia, Jess Vaughn, Duncan Whiteside, Richard Whiteside, Evan Wilson, Leah Wilson, and Joshue Wolanski.
The final week of school consisted of new and old traditions at EHS. Tuesday, a new tradition started by having a “Senior Sundown”. Many seniors went to the track an hour before sunset and enjoyed ice cream, but the excitement came as individuals and groups constructed lanterns to release at dark.
The next morning, long time teacher, Kenna Heitman, hosted breakfast at her house for class members as later that day, the Class of 2023 walked out the doors of EHS for the last time as students.
Following was the tradition of the “Drive Around” school. This consists of seniors getting in their cars and making two laps around the school campus honking their horns.
The final tradition of the week was Friday morning when students had the opportunity to attend a Baccalaureate Breakfast at the Elsberry United Methodist Church Hall hosted by the Elsberry Ministerial Alliance. Former Elsberry School Employee and Pastor, Jess Wilson, gave a short presentation to the students.
