Three Elsberry High School students performed this past Saturday with the Northeast Missouri All-District Choir. Lyman Heras, Aidan Miller and Abby Talbot auditioned for the spots in September where they were chosen for the honor of the district choir.
They rehearsed with a guest clinician on Saturday and performed a concert that evening. Students in the 11 and 12 grade choir were eligible to audition for the State choir that will perform at the Music Educators Association Conference in January. Heras was selected as first alternate in the bass section for the All-State Choir.
According to Rebecca Cooper, Music Director at EHS, “It is a rarity for a student from a small school to have the honor of being a first all-state mention, most of the spots go to students from larger districts, such as, Columbia, Fulton, Hannibal and Kirksville.”
