Silex’s Nicholas Kientzy, now a student at Missouri State University, is participating in MFA Incorporated’s Ag Experience Program as a communications intern at the corporate office in Columbia.
The Ag Experience program is an internship program sponsored by MFA Incorporated, a regional farm supply and marketing cooperative serving 45,000 active farmers and ranchers in Missouri and adjacent states. Students are hired by MFA into a professional or technical position that correlates with their area of study. As a trusted employee, students have access to the same technology resources, events and programs that other full-time employees in similar positions do. Students are challenged to apply their classroom knowledge and previous work experience in real-world situations affecting business. MFA customizes each internship, catering as much as possible to a student’s interest.
During the program, students participate in a comprehensive orientation and are assigned to an MFA work location for 12 weeks. To be eligible for this program, students must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree at an accredited college/university, be a full-time student in good standing with a grade point average above 2.75 and have completed their sophomore year of college.
At the conclusion of the program, students give a presentation to senior-level managers, focusing on the progress and results they obtained while working on projects throughout the summer.
Students who perform well during the program may receive an offer to return to MFA the following summer or work part-time throughout the school year.
