The Silex FFA Chapter held their annual member and parent banquet Friday, May 10, at Silex High School.

Sean O’Brien, Silex High School FFA Advisor, applauded his students for hard work displayed.

“I am really proud of the year we’ve had; it’s been a great one. We have, here at the Silex FFA, a family.”

Despite Silex Chapter’s small size O’Brien shares, “we’re small but mighty. We have a lot of heart, we have a lot of grit and we have kids that are dedicated.”

This close-knit group shared stories of early mornings, late nights, fun experiences, some ups and some downs and learning moments. Senior President, Hank Kientzy, shared his humbling (then) freshman experience at State FFA Convention. He was unable to compete because he lost his voice. Though disheartened Kientzy shared he was grateful to contend at that level and said, “Everything is a learning experience.”

The Silex FFA Chapter has 124 FFA members; 102 of those currently attend Silex school and 22 members are Silex High School graduates.

All members are encouraged to attend local, area, district, state and national FFA activities. Silex FFA Chapter was awarded Second Place in Area Sweepstakes.
