The Elsberry High School and Middle School band and choir groups entertained a large crowd of family and friends Friday evening for their final performance of the year.
The middle school students started the evening off with their three bands, led by the sixth grade and then followed by the seventh grade band and eighth grade band.
After a total of six musical tunes, Rebecca Cooper, Director, presented eighth grader Candice Dowell with the Directors Award.
Students were also recognized for their selection to the NEMO Junior High band, they were, Dowell, Destiny Killian, Emily Moellman, Richard Whiteside, Cooper Jones, Gavin Marshall and Jacob Heitman.
The high school portion of the concert began with three musical numbers featuring the Jazz Band. Included in the second number were solos by Nathan Miller on the alto saxophone and Lyman Heras on the trumpet. The final number included a solo performance by Taylor Watts playing the tenor saxophone.
Following the jazz band was the Choir who sang four songs for the audience. The choir was accompanied by Jenny-Lynn Heras.
The final performance of the evening was carried out by the Concert Band. Cooper chose three numbers for them to play.
Concluding the concert was the recognition of the senior band members and awards. Senior members were Trevor Anthony, Madeline Hartwell, Maggie Horn, Nathan Miller, Chelsea Toeniskoetter, Josie Horne, Nate Williams, Harmon Kreuger, Jaime Richards, and Phoenix Hutchison and Meghan O’Driscoll.
Special Awards were given to the following students: National School Color Guard Award, Jaime Richards; National School Marching Award, Nate Williams; Patrick S. Gilmore Band Award, Trevor Anthony; and John Philip Sousa Band Award, Nathan Miller.
