The Lincoln County R-III Board of Education and Superintendent Dr. Mark Penny has announced Dr. Kelly Briscoe as the principal of the Ninth Grade Center, beginning in the 2021-2022 school year.
Briscoe will assume the role on July 1.
“I am eager for the opportunity to guide and facilitate the educational process for the students and employees at the Ninth Grade Center through a continuation of the tradition of trusting relationships and superior instruction.” Briscoe said.
The Ninth Grade Center serves freshman students from the entire Lincoln County R-III School District and is located in Moscow Mills. NGC will be the first building in the district to implement the career academy model, beginning in the fall of 2021.
In the career academy model, all students will participate in the Ninth Grade Academy, which includes a yearlong Freshman Seminar course designed to help students to identify personal interests, strengths, and potential career pathways. You can find out more about the academy model by visiting the District’s website at www.troy.k12.mo.us/academies.
Briscoe has served in education for 18 years, 15 of which have been in an administrative capacity. Most recently, Briscoe has held the position of principal at Troy Middle School in the Lincoln County R-III School District overseeing the transition from the largest middle school in the state to two middle schools in the district.
Briscoe received her bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Truman State University in 2002. She went on to earn her Masters of Education in Secondary Administration in 2005, and her Doctorate in Education in 2014, both from William Woods University. Additionally, Briscoe holds a Missouri Superintendent Certificate for K-12.
The District looks forward to the continued success of the Ninth Grade Center under the direction of Briscoe.
