The gift of life is an inherent right bestowed on each and every human being at the moment of conception.
As your congressman, it is my responsibility to fight for Missouri values and protect the most vulnerable among us, including the unborn. Throughout my time in Congress I have fought for the right to life, consistently supporting pro-life legislation and pro-life causes.
Abortion targets our most vulnerable population and it is simply impossible to comprehend the number of lives that were never given a chance to flourish. While this year marks the 46th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, it also marks a time of renewed optimism and support for the pro-life movement. Since President Trump took office, he has worked alongside legislators to advance a robust pro-life agenda that supports every precious, sacred human life. In the last two years, President Trump has nominated two pro-life Justices to the Supreme Court, rebalancing the court to the benefit of the unborn.
This week, Washington D.C. welcomed thousands of Americans from across the country for the annual pro-life march to have their voices heard and demonstrate their commitment to the pro-life cause. It was an enormous pleasure to meet hundreds of Missourians who made the nearly 20-hour bus ride and discuss how we can work together to accomplish our mission of protecting those who cannot protect themselves.
Earlier this week, I joined more than 200 of my colleagues from the House and Senate on a letter asking President Trump to reject any legislation that goes against long-standing pro-life policies. These policies protect taxpayers from funding the destruction of innocent life. Alongside my colleagues I reaffirmed my commitment to retaining and strengthening these pro-life protections.
I also reintroduced the Protecting Life and Integrity in Research Act this week.
I first introduced this legislation in response to the Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives’ final report, chronicling the disturbing revelations exposing Planned Parenthood’s sale of infant body parts. The fact that an organization profited from the sale of infant body parts is deeply disturbing and absolutely disgraceful.
My bill ensures taxpayer funded research will never again be used for the horrific practice of trafficking aborted children’s body parts for profit.
Forty-six years after Roe v. Wade, the pro-life movement is as strong and as passionate as ever. I am so grateful to every person who visited, wrote or called my offices this week and every week on behalf of children across the country. Every life matters, and I will continue to do everything in my power to be a voice for the most vulnerable in our society.
