Not sure what to do with your worn out American Flag? Problem solved.
The American Legion Post #226 now has a Retired Flag Bin thanks to two of its members. Dennis “Shorty” Watkins, a member of Sons of American Legion and Rick Boaz, a member of the American Legion Post, teamed up to build the bin for the community.
Watkins, who has spent his career as a carpenter, built the structure, while Boaz, decorated it with decals depicting the four services that the American Legion offers, including American Legion, Sons of American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary and American Legion Riders. The American Legion members allocated the funds for the project.
Watkins got the idea from the St. Peters American Legion Post 313, who have something similar at their building. He added, “I was looking for a project that would serve the community.”
