Veterans and their guests lined up for tasty eats at the Elsberry American Legion Post #226 Hall following the morning’s movie, 1917, that was shown at Senate Theatre.

Elsberry’s VFW Post 9064, along with the Post’s Auxiliary group, served a hot lunch for visitors from the Troy Veterans Coffee Talk on Thursday, Feb. 4, following a visit to one of the local landmarks for a memorable morning.

Troy’s veterans group visited the Senate Theatre for a showing of the film, 1917.  The attendees were treated to free admission to the movie as part of a special event organized by Troy’s Veterans Coffee Talk group.

Among the many contributors who provided free tickets, as well as the food, to all movie-goers were Crouse Realty, Peoples Bank, Providence Bank, the VFW Post 8828 Auxiliary, the VFW Post 8828 members, Elsberry VFW Post 9064, Ralph and Alice Coose, Dean and Rita Tapley, and a donor who wished to remain anonymous.   The use of the Legion hall by a nearly full house of diners was provided by the American Legion Post  226 of Elsberry.

Additionally, cash donations were made by many of the guests as they filled their plates with delicious entrees.

The general consensus by those attending earned the occasion an all-around “two thumbs up.”
